Alliance Française Ciné-Club presents Belle et Sébastien, 2013, 104 minutes, in French with English subtitles. Sébastien lives with his grizzled grandfather, César, in a vertiginous mountain village in the French Alps and crosses path with a giant filthy mountain dog that the locals have dubbed "the Beast" for allegedly killing sheep. Sébastien befriends the animal, naming her Belle. Their friendship is put to the test when Nazi occupiers march into town looking for members of the French Resistance who are guiding Jewish refugees to nearby Switzerland.
