When: Sat., July 13, 6 a.m.-4 p.m. 2013
Taxidermy seems to be making a comeback in a big way. Why not get on the trend with a fish that you caught yourself? Throw out a line at the Folly Beach Fishing Pier for their annual tournament to start renovating your decor. One of the largest piers on the East Coast, the pier stretches out 1045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean and has been the location for this tournament since 1995. Register before July 11 or at 6 a.m. the morning of the tournament to compete for some of the prizes — three will be awarded for the largest catches in the Big Fish category and one for the largest fish caught in the King Mackerel category. “Some of the prizes will consist of fishing rods and reels,” says Joey Crawford of the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. They will also have Calcutta chairs, coolers, cast nets, and other items for prizes. And don’t worry about all of the afternoon showers that we’ve been having because this event will happen rain or shine. If you are a fisherman 15 years old or younger, bring a chaperone with you. Rental equipment is available.
Price: $13, $10/CCR Resident, $8/ages 3-12
