When: Wed., Dec. 14, 6-7 p.m. and Thu., Dec. 15, 6-7 p.m. 2011
The Charleston Animal Society is recruiting animal lovers for a new program. If you’ve been itching for a new pooch at home, but are second-guessing the responsibility of a new companion, head out to their From Foster to Forever training classes and learn how to become a temporary foster parent for a pup in need. Those interested will have the opportunity to foster adult dogs for two to four weeks, and during this time will be given all the tools and tips they’ll need to find a perfect, permanent home for their canine. The Charleston Animal Society hopes this new initiative will help free up space at the shelter, while also reaching a larger audience of would-be adopters. At the end of the two-to-four week period, the decision of who will permanently adopt the dog lies solely on the foster family. Interested parties can attend the informative classes either Dec. 14 or 15, and the program is scheduled to launch fostering efforts on Jan. 1.
