Wednesday. Every Wednesday, Chai's hosts the reggae sounds and Caribbean rhythms of Mystic Vibrations. The Jamaican ex-pats' music speaks of love, unity, and peace among all man kind.

Thursday. The Amnesty International Charleston and College of Charleston branches are hosting representatives from LiNK, an organization committed to rescuing and helping North Korean refugees. They will be sharing firsthand stories and showing their documentary Hiding.

Friday. The Charleston Fine Art Dealers Association's Art Annual begins Friday at downtown galleries. A standout is Robert Lange Studios' November show, which has brought together works by 40 female artists. They'll display one or two original pieces highlighting the female form in the show, entitled Women Painting Women

By day, Virgil Gurdies dons a lab coat and works manufacturing artificial additives used in TV dinners, but his real passion, ironically enough, is fine cheese, and in the film Artois the Goat, he journeys to find the greatest goat cheese known to man. The film was produced by Richard Reininger, who will be on hand after the 8 p.m. screening for a Q&A at the Simons Center for the Arts.

Saturday. Capital BookFest is a free one-day literary festival assembles writers, poets, and children’s book authors to present their work through readings, discussions, storytelling, and conversation. Some notable local participants include Swallow Savannah author Ken Burger, 18-year-old Good Fortune author Noni Carter, and College of Charleston professor Bret Lott. Poet, writer, activist, and educator Nikki Giovanni will also be in attendance with her latest work, Bicycle: Love Poems.

Attention cupcake lovers: Bring and share your cupcakes or just come to eat at Cupcake Camp host by Aloft in North Charleston. A highlight of the event is an amateur and professional bakers competition for Most Unique Ingredients, Best Charleston Themes, and Best Decorated Cupcake.

Sunday. In honor of Veterans Day, sample delicious food items from Summerville's finest restaurants, listen to live music, play in the fun-filled kids zone, and meet local merchants, artists, and entertainers at the Taste of the Town.
