Freeloaders: Free to pull out your Halloween decorations

Happy first day of Halloween, Charleston. We all know October is just an excuse to dress up, drink pumpkin-spiced anything, and pretend it's chilly outside. Before dropping dough on your killer Halloween costume or another latte, check out some of these free events around town.

Monday

At 6 p.m., City Gallery at Waterfront Park hosts the Citadel’s prized professor of African-American studies Damon Fordham. This event includes Fordham’s entertaining and informative stories, and a book signing. Tickets are free, but you must register prior to the event.

Ms. Roses will host live trivia beginning at 7 p.m.

Tuesday

View OneBeat artist’s one-time performance in response to environmental works of composer John Luther Adams. The performance begins at 7 p.m. at The Circular Congregational Church.

Bring your mats and join Bendy Brewski Yoga at 6:30 p.m. at North Charleston’s Riverfront Park.

Join New York Times bestselling author, Tayari Jones, at City Gallery at Waterfront Park. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. Jones will talk about where she is from and what she has done with that. Don’t forget to reserve your tickets for this free event!



Itinerant Literate hosts books and booze every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m.

Wednesday

See stars with a free Astronomy in the Park class. From 5-9 p.m. come out to Brittlebank Park.

Enjoy the afternoon at the West Ashley Farmers Market. The market is located at Ackerman Park, and starts at 3 p.m.

From 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., enjoy Brains + Brews Trivia at Low Tide Brewing.

Wednesdays are for Dead on the Deck, y'all. Fun starts at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday

Enjoy Holy Cow Yoga’s free mediation class at 1 p.m.

Emily Curtis plays live music on the patio from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mainland Container Co. Kitchen & Bar.

Play trivia at Frothy Beard from 7-9 p.m.

Friday

Start your weekend out walking around Broad Street’s Gallery Row. First Fridays on Broad start at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

Parisian designer, Laurent Guillot's jewelry will be on display at the Grand Bohemian Gallery from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Celebrate the 1960s folk music at Folktoberfest. Go out to Mt. Pleasant Regional Library from 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Saturday

Charleston Pour House will hold a free yoga class from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Sportsman’s Gallery presents their 20th anniversary show from 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Celebrate the heritage, culture and traditions of India and the India Fest from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Sunday

Shop and browse around the Holy City Vintage Market from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Start your morning off right with the Zen Meditation Group at Holy Cow Yoga Center, Sunday morning at 8:15 a.m.

Speaking of yoga, Community Yoga hosts an open house for their teacher training at 1 p.m.
