Fresh Music Festival

When: Sat., June 16 2012

Let’s review some of the top hits of the artists coming to Charleston for the Fresh Music Festival, a traveling R&B/hip-hop tour. First, we have Doug E. Fresh, the first human beat-boxer, known for “La Di Da Di.” We have Keith Sweat (pictured), who hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart for “I’ll Give All My Love to You.” There’s K-Ci & JoJo, the dynamic duo famous for seducing the ladies with songs like “All My Life (I Pray For Someone Like You).” Next up is Guy, who sings “Piece of My Love” to his adoring fans. And finally, there’s SWV, a fierce female trio who hit the Top 10 R&B charts with “I’m So Into You.” You ready to be serenaded? Comedian G-Thang will also be on hand. Gary Guidry, the creator and organizer of Fresh Fest, tells us his inspiration came from “throwing homecoming parties and various events at clubs in college,” and he can’t wait to bring the party to Charleston. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Charleston Firefighter Association and Local 61. The music starts at 8 p.m.
