Andy Sinwald, recreation supervisor of special events for the Isle of Palms, says that the only true way to honor the spirit of IOP’s Front Beach is with beach music. This year Front Beach Fest will feature an afternoon of shagging and line dancing with live performances from oldies wonders The Tams and the winner of last year’s Carolina Beach Music Award for Song of the Year and Rising Star, The Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band. The festival will also feature local craft vendors lining Ocean Boulevard alongside carts full of carnival snacks like cotton candy from Lowcountry Fun Foods, snow cones from Kona Ice, and popcorn and boiled peanuts from Holy City Popcorn. This year several local restaurants including The Long Island Café, Banana Cabana, Luke ‘n Ollie’s Pizzeria, and The Windjammer will have booths set up as well. Who can say no to jump castles, face painting, karaoke, a balloon artist, and a mechanical bull?
