Future w/ Flood Empty Lakes, Hit or Miss

When: Tue., June 23 2009

With a style they describe as “soul-driven, psychedelic, almost-punk, hip-hop fusion,” Washington D.C.-based quintet Future steer their “Spread Love Massive Tour 2009” into the Pour House on Tues. June 23. The eclectic and high-energy band leans a bit toward the less skanky, hard-rock side of things on most of the its recent recordings — it’s kind of a Living Colour-meets-Sly & Robbie’s rocker styles, but with plenty of funky craziness poppin’. Emcee and samplemaster Chuck X. Bucket (pictured), drummer Deron Pinchback, bassist Tony Moreno, singer/guitarists Gordon Sterling and James Helle swear by their “dynamic live performances.” Local band Flood Empty Lakes open. On the deck, Joel Timmons and Ward Buckheister (of Sol Driven Train) play an acoustic set from 6-9 p.m.
