The Gibbes Museum may be celebrating its sixth annual street party, but 2015’s fest has a Belle Epoque theme, think joie de vivre, the emergence of the Eiffel Tower, haute couture, and absinthe — lots of it. The renovated Gibbes is scheduled to open in 2016. The French theme runs throughout the night of the street party, with special French foods from Baguette Magic, Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Patissier, and goat.sheep.cow. There will be 20 food stations, so if French cuisine doesn’t make you say oui, oui, then you’ll still have plenty of delicious bites from other local favorites. There will be two signature cocktails, one with Ciroc Ultra Premium Peach Vodka and the other with Bulleit Bourbon, as well as wine of the red, white, and rose varieties. says that La Belle Epoque is based on the period in history when a lot of grand museums were being built in the U.S., including the Gibbes Beaux-Arts building. “The theme really celebrates the grandness of time,” says Gibbes’ Director of Public Programs and Special Events Lasley Steever. The celebration kicks it up a notch with a mixologist competition and live music.
