Local nonprofit Operation Home is bringing the Big Easy to the Lowcountry with the second annual Gimme Shelter party, a New Orleans-inspired event at the Navy Yard at Noisette. The organization’s mission is to help the low-income residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties remain in their homes by increasing safety and accessibility through critical home repairs. Operation Home has found itself a new home as well, moving their headquarters to the Navy Yard, so they’ll be celebrating in style. Dikki Du and Zydeco Krewe of New Orleans will turn the Navy Yard into a veritable Bourbon Street from 6 p.m. until the sun goes down. Home Team BBQ’s chef Aaron Siegel will be serving up typical NOLA fare like a crawfish bowl, jambalaya, and mini po-boys. The bar stocked by Icebox will include wine, beer, and the night’s specialty drinks: the hurricane and the painkiller. Shuttle Hogs will be offering rides from Mt. Pleasant to the Navy Yard throughout the event. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Operation Home.
Price: $50/advance, $60/door
