Halloween in the BOOroughs

When: Sat., Oct. 29, 6-9 p.m. 2011

Grab the kids, the costumes, and the candy corn. Oh, and if you’re feeling ballsy, you may also want to bust out your pumpkin carving tools. The Cannonborough-Elliotborough Neighborhood Association (CENA) and the Cannonborough-Elliotborough Business Owners (CEBO) are teaming up to bring you the second annual Halloween in the BOOroughs. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a parade, leaving from Brewster’s Court and proceeding to Elliotborough Park (fear not, parents, it’s a short walk, but you may want to bring the Radio Flyer just in case). Awaiting at the parade’s finish will be games, grub, and some friendly competition with a costume contest and pumpkin bake-off. For the gourd virtuosos out there, the event will also play host to a jack-o-lantern carving, but remember to BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin). Tunes will be provided by The V-Tones, The South Carolina Broadcasters, and the Jazz Artists of Charleston, with cuisine courtesy of Hello My Name is BBQ, Roti Rolls, and King of Pops. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. The day is definitely family-friendly, but Liz MacPherson, a coordinator of the event, says, "I don’t have kids, and last year I had a really good time." All proceeds will benefit SideWalk Chalk.
