There’s nothing better than a fully costumed, always over-the-top-groovy band for a Halloween show. That’s what the Pour House is delivering with Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, an Asheville, N.C.-based funk band that never fails to get all the boils and ghouls dancing. Their music is straight out of the Nu Funk genre with a mix of triumphant horns, laid-back grooves, and heavy back-beats. Come wearing your craziest costume for a chance to win two VIP passes to the Bear Creek Music and Arts Festival. We’re thinking 1970s-era zombies, personally. If you’re tight on cash but still craving some live music, acoustic band Hungry Monks will be on the deck at 5 p.m. that same night. You can enjoy happy hour specials and free music before the Halloween crowd rolls in to jump on the booty bandwagon. If all that shakin’ gets you hungry, walk a few feet to the Pour House’s new farm-to-table sister restaurant, the Lot, which will serve its full menu until 10 p.m.
