Hip-Hop Humans for Cancer

When: Sat., July 28, 7 p.m. 2012

Have you seen every single You Got Served movie? Do you find yourself unleashing your rage through dance-offs? If you answered yes to either of those questions, you’re in for a treat. Local and regional hip-hop crews will convene for a good cause with DanceFX at Hip-Hop Humans for Cancer. Live hip-hop and R&B music will kick off the event, followed by some brutal dance battles. Proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Show up and make a donation, and you can sign up for a one-on-one battle. Then for 10 bucks you can fix those sore muscles with a 10-minute massage. Plus you can leave looking like a G with some new threads from the Urban Gear Silent Auction. Entertainment ranges from an MC notorious for Michelle Obama impressions to a hip-hop violinist. And don’t worry about having to leave the kids behind, because the event is family-friendly. Make sure to stick around until the end, Executive Director Jenny Broe Price says. “There’s some really funny, awesome stuff at the end of the night.” Word is there are some youngsters who will put your dance moves to shame. And let’s face it, there’s nothing funnier than hearing an 8-year-old say, “You got served.”
