Holiday ShopMob

When: Wed., Nov. 14, 5-8 p.m. 2012

Unlike Tickle Me Elmos, buying local is no fad. And now that the holidays are creeping up on us, Lowcountry Local First is making buying local even more fun. They’ve set up an exclusive, after-hours shopping experience called a ShopMob, which means that if you buy a ShopMob ticket, you get access to crazy deals and sales at participating businesses. “Our overall goal is to try and raise awareness of all the different societal and economic benefits which shopping local offers,” explains Justin Knabb, LLF’s marketing and communications manager. “It has a real and positive impact for consumers, as well as business owners.” The festivities start with a check-in at the Kickin’ Chicken from 5-6 p.m., which is where you can pick up or purchase your ShopMob tickets. You’ll also get a shopping bag that’s been pre-filled with awesome gifts. Then it’s time to shop till you drop — or until 8 p.m., which is when the ShopMob ends. Afterward, head back to the Kickin’ Chicken for the Buy Local Bash, which will feature live music, specialty cocktails, and of course, a great selection of local beers. As a final reminder of how cool it is to shop local, ShopMob ticketholders will get in for free (others pay $5).
