When: Sat., June 2, 10:30 p.m. 2012
Yeah, we know what you’re thinking: This Jake Shimabukuro guy looks super familiar. That’s probably because you recognize him from those days you spent scouring YouTube out of boredom. Shimabukuro’s got 10 million hits on a video of him playing the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on the ukulele, and now he’s considered a ukulele virtuoso who’s revolutionized the music world. (Take that, angry cat clips and Numa Numa Guy!) After his June 2 concert, all you 21-and-up folks can scoot on down to the Honoluau after-party, co-hosted by Spoleto SCENE and the City Paper. Once you get there, enjoy the feel-good acoustics of Guilt Ridden Troubadour and a couple drinks, like Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka, a Virgil Kaine Bourbon and Ginger, and beer from Blue Moon. They’ll even have a suckling pig from Black Jack Barbecue. If you go to Shimabukuro’s June 1 show, you’re still eligible for the combo ticket that gets you into the party. “All attendees will have something in common, as they will all have seen one of Jake Shimabukuro’s two festival performances — and Jake is invited as well,” says Spoleto Communications Assistant LaBruce Trammell.
Price: $50/combo ticket
