It’s modern tradition for Carolina pop-rock vets Hootie & The Blowfish to ease into town and set up on Daniel Island for their annual Homegrown Concert. It’s been 16 years since the release of the Hootie & The Blowfish’s breakthrough album Cracked Rear View and smash single “Hold My Hand.” They’re practically an oldies act now, and yet the band remains as popular in its home state as ever. Designed as a fundraiser for the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation (a nonprofit that funds music programs at S.C. school), it’s been an annual summertime event for eight years in a row. Fresh off of a hot concert at Rockin’ on the Point last month, local roots-rock combo Crowfield opens the show at 7 p.m.
