Hugh Howey Book Event

When: Sat., Sept. 29, 8 p.m. 2012

This is one of the few times that you’ll actually be happy to hit the books on a Saturday night. Hugh Howey, the best-selling author of the sci-fi WOOL series, is headed to Charleston for a book event that’s more than your typical reading-and-signing. Howey, a former College of Charleston student, has had major success with his series and kept himself busy by climbing best-sellers lists, signing a movie deal, and being featured in Entertainment Weekly, Variety, and Publisher’s Weekly, just to name a few. This book-signing-on-steroids will include a reading, drinks inspired by the book, and live music provided by the band Slick Tyte Click. “You don’t get to make reading fun a lot, but the Tin Roof has done a really good job of cultivating that,” says Howey. We believe him, because he keeps coming back — this will be his sixth book event at the Tin Roof. “They’re pretty gracious to have me, and we usually have a pretty great crowd.”
