Madison, Wis.-based indie/psych-folk trio Icarus Himself — guitarist Nick Whetro, bassist Karl Christenson, and drummer Brad Kolberg — recently released their second full-length album, Career Culture. A quick listen of the songs “On Your Side” and “Anywhere You Go” immediately shows off everything that’s still possible and exciting about indie rock these days. Better yet, watch the official videos; one features a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style couple robbing wedding guests at gunpoint while the other is a montage of footage from ’70s prayer revivals and rallies. Despite having four albums in the bank, including 2010’s EP Mexico (check out the super-catchy “Digging Holes” and the soaring “Cadaver Love Song”), Icarus Himself has yet to make much of a splash outside of their native land. The trio’s Southern summer itinerary, dubbed the “Bible Belt/Sweat Lodge Tour 2012” aims to change that. From the looks of it, this Tin Roof appearance could ultimately be one of those “I saw them when” moments. Pop-garage rockers Sans Jose — Stefan Rogenmoser, Will Cox, Jim Faust, Chaz Straney, Scott Dence — will open with a fuzz-toned set at 9 p.m.
