- Gotta catch 'em all; all the products available for purchase at Eucalyptus.
For those unfamiliar with CBD a.k.a. Cannabidiol, the compound is found in cannabis, but should not be confused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another cannabis compound, the one that actually gets you high.
People have been jumping on board with CBD for the past few years, with many people using the compound to treat chronic pain, anxiety (that's why I take the stuff, FYI), inflammation, and more. Lots has been written about the effects of CBD — including ones that question if the whole thing is just a placebo — but projectcbd.org is a great resource for those with more questions.
If you're interested in trying CBD for free (the stuff ain't cheap), then head to Eucalyptus this Sun. March 10 from 1-5 p.m. for CBD Happy Hour. You can sample CBD edibles, enter giveaways, chat with Eucalyptus employees at CBD, and add CBD to one of the Elixir Bar's drinks for $2.
Throughout March, Eucalyptus sells products from Charlotte's Web and Straight Hemp Full Spectrum for 20 percent off.
If one happy hour simply won't cut it, then check out the Lowcountry Hemp Festival, happening on 4/20 at The Barrel. The festival, a collaboration with Lowcountry National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), celebrates South Carolina's legislation last year which allowed 20 farmers in the state to grow hemp, thus jumpstarting an entire CBD-focused industry.

On the same day in Ridgeville, S.C., Charleston Hemp Company presents the Charleston Hemp Fest; the event features live music, food trucks, a vendor village, and licensed doctors on deck to discuss the benefits of CBD. Eucalpytus isn't the only store that sells CBD products. You can buy supplements online (and in some local stores) from local companies CBD Carolinas, Coastal CBD, CBD Charleston, and Charleston Hemp Company, and in store at spots like West Ashley's Herbal Passion.
Bert's Market sells Apis Mercantile honey (which you can also snag at Eucalyptus). Most vape shops sell CBD oil. You'll see yoga studios selling the stuff — and offering classes that highlight CBD — and there are even products for your pets. We've seen CBD in cocktails and beers and West Ashley's Verdant Eco Spa offers a "heaven on Earth hemp massage."
There's a world of CBD products and knowledge out there y'all. Have fun.
