Irvin-House Vineyard Grape Stomping Festival

When: Sat., Aug. 27, 2-6 p.m. 2011

It’s time to get your feet dirty. Maybe dirty isn’t the right word for it. “Sticky” might be better. At Irvin~House Vineyards’ Grape Stomping Festival, some guests will get to feel the fruit between their toes, while others can be content to picnic and drink wine. The unusual number of vintage-dressed gingers you’ll see stomping away are probably participating in the Lucy Look-A-Like Contest, an homage to a famous I Love Lucy episode. There will also be wine and food for purchase from Home Team BBQ, Taco Boy, Carolina Creole, and Greg’s Dogs, live music from Southern Flavor Bluegrass, and kids activities, and Clay Rice will be doing his silhouettes. And there’s a new contest this year, which will pit teams of two against each other to see who can produce the most juice from 20 pounds of grapes in three minutes. If only they could wear combat boots, they’d have it locked.
