We were worried. We hadn't heard a peep from the Windjammer about this year's Budweiser Bikini Bash, a long-standing tradition that features, well, Bud and bikinis. You know, the good stuff in life. But our fears were unwarranted. The Bikini Bash is back, according to the Windjammer's website, and you can feast your eyes on the first one this Sun. June 25 starting around 5 p.m.
The long-running tradition has been holding steady at the 'jammer for almost 30 years now; in 2015 we chatted
with Windjammer co-owner Bobby Ross, who lauded the come-one-come all atmosphere of the bashes. "There are doctors, lawyers, motorcycle gangs," said Ross of the crowds. Hear, hear.
If you're willing and ready to strut your stuff (we speak from experience when we say that bikini contests are tougher than they look: please see Nags Head, summer of 2009), then head to the Windjammer this Sunday or three other bash days this summer. The cash prizes are pretty sweet, often starting around $500. Grab your friends — the winner is chosen by loudest applause — and we'll see ya there.
