Jail Break

When: Sat., Nov. 16, 4-10 p.m. 2013

If you’ve seen the rat with the sweet pink mohawk that Jail Break has adopted as its logo this time around, you already know the theme — punk all the way, baby. This popular music and art event, which has made the Old City Jail the place to be for the past few years now, features music, comedy, and a group art exhibition, not to mention arts and craft vendors and food trucks. But this time around they’ve gotten even more ambitious and are hosting their first-ever original, collaborative performance called Punk: art untethered. (Check out a video sneak peek on their website.) In another first, Threshold Repertory Theatre will present scenes from their 2013-14 season. “It’s impossible to get bored at the event, and we’re not even offering liquor to keep you entertained,” says Andrew Walker of Entropy Arts, the group behind Jail Break. “The jail seems to be busting at the seams with creative people, and it becomes clear that this festival is about artistic freedom and ownership and breaking out of confinements rather than resigning yourself to imprisonment.”
