Jay Clifford Duo, Jeremy Current, Haley Dries, Young Astronauts

When: Fri., April 30 2010

Since the amicable 2005 breakup of long-time Charleston pop-rock band Jump (a.k.a. Jump, Little Children), former frontman/singer/songwriter Jay Clifford has enjoyed a musical career along several different paths — as a sideman, songwriting collaborator, orchestral leader, recording studio executive, and solo performer, among other roles. Clifford released his debut solo album, Driving Blind, on 33 and 1/3 Records in 2007, touring upon its release with pianist Michael Flynn and guitarist Josh Kaler (both of Slow Runner) and other guests. Over the last two years, Clifford helped establish Hello Telescope studios in a downtown spot with Kaler. Both musicians have stayed quite busy recording local and visiting acts. Kaler joins Clifford on the road as his sideman this month, playing pedal steel guitar and electric guitar on a series of dates. On Friday, the duo shares the bill with solo acoustic acts Jeremy Current and Haley Dreis. An after-party set from Young Alumni features songwriter Steven Fiore with guests (11:45 p.m.). The event is presented by The Bridge at 105.5. —T. Ballard Lesemann
