Jeff Norwood Memorial Jam

When: Thu., June 7 2012

Home Team BBQ recently announced a tribute and jam session in honor of Jeff Norwood, a Camden-based veteran blues performer who died in April after battling cirrhosis of the liver and other ailments. Norwood was a favorite on the local blues scene for years, and he regularly performed at local venues and festivals, including special events and solo shows at Home Team BBQ. “I think this will be a nice send-off for Jeff,” says Home Team co-owner and booking man Tony McKie, a longtime supporter who originally had Norwood himself scheduled to perform at the venue this evening. “The money I had earmarked for the backline will go to Jeff’s family and his daughter’s scholarship fund. The music will start around 8 p.m., and it ends when the cows come home.” Norwood’s most recent recording is an EP titled Lord Help that was released in April on the Appalachia Burning label. The memorial event jam features drummer John Picard, guitarist Tommy Thunderfoot, and many local and regional musicians who recorded, toured, and collaborated with Norwood over the years. Jeff’s wife, Maryanne MacLaurin Norwood, says the invitation to perform “goes out to all of Jeff’s friends.”
