J.J. Caillier & The Zydeco Knockout

When: Fri., July 2 2010

Singer/accordionist J.J. Caillier — a modern-day zydeco and Cajun blues master based in Lafayette, La. — will spend a good part of the week gigging around town. Caillier (son of acclaimed zydeco musician and archivist J.J. Caillier, Jr.) performs a funky blend of traditional zydeco and swamp funk in the vein of greats like Clifton Chenier, Buckwheat, and BooZoo Chavis. He and his band The Zydeco Knockouts mix it up on their latest album, Do You Wanna Dance? In addition to some other local shows, the band's big club show takes place on Friday night at the Home Team BBQ joint on Sullivan’s Island. —T. Ballard Lesemann
