Johnny Cash Bash

When: Fri., June 1 2012

To commemorate the 80th year of the Man in Black, the Johnny Cash Bash on June 1 at the Pour House will stir up those nostalgic Walk the Line memories. Regional talent includes the Folsom Prison Gang, Skye Paige and the Original Recipe, the South Carolina Broadcasters, and Jaykob Kendrick — all playing original songs alongside Cash covers and tributes. The Folsom Prison Gang will be the main act, playing renditions of classic Cash songs with a personalized twist. The six-piece tribute band from North Carolina uses the Man in Black’s early-era rockabilly flavor to influence their covers and recreates rather than impersonates the legendary artist. The energetic blues-rock of Paige and her band and the string-filled mountain melodies of the South Carolina Broadcasters round things out nicely. The event is the brainchild of Texas native and radio DJ Rowdy Tijmes, host of outlaw-country program The Rowdy Radio Show. He’ll be hosting the event. Be sure to wear black for a $13 discounted ticket.
