Kakalak 2009 Release Party

When: Fri., Oct. 16, 5-7 p.m. 2009

The cobblestone streets, live oaks, and scenic sunsets of Charleston are enough to make just about anyone wax poetic. Maybe that’s why we’ve got such a wealth of poets in the area. Kakalak is an annual anthology that collects work from the very best poets throughout the Carolinas, and Blue Bicycle Books, a hub of the local literary community, hosts a launch party every year for the volume. The event, held in the King Street shop’s cozy courtyard, features readings and signings from local writers like Susan Meyers, Dennis Ward Stiles, Lynn Stanton, Kit Loney, Jim Lundy, Ellen Hyatt, and more. A reception will follow the reading. —Erica Jackson
