Life Before and After Freedom

When: Sat., Feb. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. 2016

Life Before and After Freedom will be held at Magnolia Plantation's restored cabins which once housed enslaved workers who helped design and maintain Magnolia's gardens and were garden guides following the Civil War. The program includes Gullah storyteller Sharon Cooper Murray, Civil War storyteller James Brown, and Dontavis Williams who will portray a slave named Adam. There will also be craft demonstrations featuring blacksmithing, outdoor cooking, and brick-making.
