LIME takes on history

Renata dos Santos, the leader of underground supper club LIME, has put together an amazing event that encompasses food, the military, and history too.

Nine chefs will participate in crafting a big meal, each course focusing on a different historical era. They’ll start in colonial times, move through the Revolution, the Antebellum days, the Civil War, and eventually into the contemporary world, finishing with a course that promises the future of Southern cuisine.

An interesting collection of local chefs will participate, including Jeremiah Bacon (Oak Steakhouse), Craig Deihl (Cypress), Jon Cropf (Blu), Daniel Doyle (Poogan’s Porch), JJ Kern (Hucks Lowcountry Table), and Dan Killoran (82 Queen). As if that’s not enough, the event takes place on the Air Force Base in North Charleston. A cocktail reception will be held among the C-17s, and dinner will be served under tents surrounded by historic bomber and cargo planes.

During dinner, there will be live music from Ann Caldwell, drumming from the Taiko Drummers, and dancing by the Gypsy Dance Troupe. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, Hidden Wounds, and the Charging Charlie Alumni Association, all military-related nonprofits. The evening takes place Sat.
