Little Jack's Tavern Image

Hours: Lunch and Dinner everyday

Price: $$

Owners Tim Mink and Brooks Reitz created a unique concept when they came up with Little Jack’s. Like the favorite checked tablecloth joint of the Rat Pack’s, Little Jack’s feels like it’s of another time. The restaurant serves chef-driven cuisine featuring everything from crudités to a shrimp burger. The starters are uniformly creative and the best of them are their delicious salads. Their chopped salad, which changes seasonally, is a celebration of the Lowcountry’s vegetables. The sandwiches help bridge the gap between lunch and dinner and feature an odd but somehow delicious shrimp burger that is an odd spin off of a typical fish sandwich. The familiar taste of Old Bay keeps the sandwich from being unapproachable. For dinner entrees, we recommend going with the steak; prepared medium-rare and with a good crack of salt, it’s one of the best meat dishes you can get in the neighborhood. While you’re there, try a vintage cocktail, listen to Frank Sinatra crooning from the speakers, and you’ll be transported back to the ’40s. —Suzanne Cohen (Dish, Summer 2019)
