When: Sat., Oct. 15, 7 a.m. 2011
Pink is the color of October. Not orange, not black, and not a combination of the two. Pink. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there are plenty of different ways to contribute to organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure (like Clothes Swap for a Cure, which we City Picked on page 33). But the penultimate event is the Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure on Saturday. Survivors and supporters can walk or run by themselves or in teams on the route through Daniel Island, all while raising money to help fund breast cancer research. The organization raised $860,000 in 2010 and hopes to hit $1 million this year. There will be a survivor celebration at 8 a.m., followed by a fun run and walk and then the race. If you’re interested in participating, online registration ends at noon on Wednesday, but you can register in-person on Oct. 14.
Price: $30/individual registration
