More than five dozen new U.S. citizens will take the oath of allegiance on Fri. July 2 at the home of Arthur Middleton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The annual Naturalization Ceremony at Middleton Place is hosted by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The weekend is filled with war re-enactors, musket firings, camp life demonstrations, and special tours focusing on Middleton and the American Revolution, along with other activities. At 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, visitors can witness formal readings of the Declaration of Independence.

During the holiday weekend, South Carolina residents will get half off admission with a valid driver's license. While most of the event is free with adult admission, special activities like carriage tours are an extra fee. For more information, visit middletonplace.org.
