It seems like Charleston is hosting a Steven Spielberg retrospective this week. OK, I could be exaggerating a bit. It’s definitely just a coincidence that the Terrace Theater is screening E.T. the Extraterrestrial (see the column on page 37), while the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission is playing Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark as part of their Movies in the Park series. Held at the Mt. Pleasant Pier, the free film begins at sundown on July 22. I think we all know the story by now. Our favorite hot professor evades Nazis, snakes, and giant rolling stones while protecting the Ark of the Covenant and reuniting with his ex-girlfriend Marion. It’s so good it’ll melt your face off, kind of like what happens to the Nazis in the film. Oops. Did I just give too much away? Bring your own blankets or lawn chairs, and some cash to purchase refreshments on site.
