MRSOE Presents

When: Sat., May 12, 10 p.m. 2012

If you were one of the lucky ones to see The Most RACES Show on Earth! at this year’s Charleston Comedy Festival — and there were 400 of you at the two sold-out shows — you might be interested in its spinoff series, MRSOE! Presents. The original Canadian show brings together stand-up comedians of different ethnicities, and MRSOE! Presents will spotlight two of the edgiest funny men from the RACES roster: Landry and Noah Gardenswartz, who will perform with local comedians. “Audiences who watch the show for the first time usually come because they’re supporting a particular ethnicity on the show, but by the end they realize that they’ve been laughing at everyone’s jokes,” says series founder Neil Bansil. “Since everyone is represented, it gives the audience the freedom to laugh at jokes that might seem racy and to find connections between their culture and all of the others as well.” With more than 30 different ethnicities represented at various RACES shows, the comedians have become somewhat of a team. “I handpicked these comedians, because I wanted to give audiences in Charleston something different,” Bansil says. “When is the last time a Jamaican-Canadian, a Jewish-American and a Filipino-Canadian-American performed together on a show?”
