Music Loves Fashion

When: Fri., Aug. 27, 8 p.m. 2010

If you’ve been counting down the days to Charleston Fashion Week — March seems like an eternity from now — get your fashion fix satiated at Music Loves Fashion. Tara Langdale, the buyer and manger for StyleXchange in Mt. Pleasant, explains that the store hasn’t been involved in Fashion Week for two years and was eager to do something for the community. The idea came when Lamar Bonaparte, the man behind Chai’s Fashion Fridays and 26 Industries, got in touch with the store. There’ll be a pre-Music Loves Fashion party at O-Ku on Wednesday night; Josh Norris will be taking photographs, which will be presented the night of the show. On Friday night, guests can socialize before the models hit the runway at 10 p.m. Anna Lassiter will show an original collection, and StyleXchange’s main show features designs by Alice & Olivia, True Religion, Prada, and more. Langdale hopes the evening will unite her store’s Mt. Pleasant crowd with the downtown scene. “I think it’s going to basically kind of bring out a group of people that haven’t all been at an event together,” she says. The night benefits the Boys and Girls Club. —Susan Cohen
