New works by Matt Bober

When: Fri., Nov. 6, 5-8 p.m. and Nov. 6-Sept. 30 2015

Matthew Bober, a New York City-based painter, will make his solo debut at Robert Lange Studios this November with a show of macabre still lifes. Bober’s style is so specific it’s almost difficult to describe; gallery director Curry Ernst refers to it as “an intriguing juxtaposition between the extremely detailed subject matter in the foreground and the eye-popping, typically monochromatic, backgrounds.” Bober often employs images of animal skulls with pieces of metal or machinery for an interesting contrast between the natural and the artificial. Many of his paintings are so intricate that they almost appear to be photographs. Bober has not yet revealed what pieces he intends to bring to the exhibit, but he claims to have some wild ideas in the works. For more information on what pieces might be featured, continue to check robertlangestudios.com. As always, wine and alcoholic punch will be served while you peruse Bober’s many compelling pieces. —SC
