When: Sat., Dec. 6, 3-9 p.m. 2014
Once we’ve reached the 12th month of the year, it’s almost past time to begin holiday festivities. Don’t worry if you’re a little behind on this; bring the kids and head to Park Circle to catch up on all the celebrating you’ve missed. Craft and food vendors will be selling their wares all afternoon, while carriage rides, jump castles, and a petting zoo will entertain the young ones, free of charge. Find the perfect handcrafted gift from vendors like Brown’s Woodworking, Jamberry Nailwraps, The Clean Soap Company, and CMV Simplicities. Shopping can be exhausting, so vendors such as The Barbeque Joint, Zeus Grill, Zombie Bob’s Pizza, and Smoke will be around to provide the eats. Around 4:30 p.m., Mayor Keith Summey and Santa Claus will light the city Christmas tree outside the front entrance of the Felix C. Davis Community Center, starting the holiday parade. The parade will include marching bands and floats from various schools, church groups, and businesses in the community and will begin at the corner of Montague and Mixson avenues, continue down Montague, around Park Circle, and conclude at Armory Park. Get your fill of musical holiday cheer from two different stages in Park Circle after the parade is over. On the auditorium stage, the Palmetto Bronze Handbell Choir will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a theatrical performance from Donna Lee Williams and Remnant Productions at 7:45 p.m. On the amphitheater stage, Mike Brown and F.O.C.U.S. will open with gospel music, and the Leonard School of Music will finish out the evening with a holiday jazz performance.
