Oktoberfest at Blackbaud Stadium

When: Sun., Oct. 7, 12-5 p.m. 2012

Let the Oktoberfest-ivities commence! For the mother of all Oktoberfests, head to Blackbaud Stadium. The stadium will be decked out Bavarian-style with beer tasting tables at every turn, a 64-team cornhole tournament, live oompah music, authentic German dancers, and a wide selection of German food. Although the overwhelming amount of beer may make you skeptical about bringing the kids, the Battery’s Whitney Woods says bring ’em along: “Our event is family-friendly with activities and events for all ages.” Kids’ activities include mini-soccer games on the stadium field, a slide, and the ever-popular jump castles. The 2012 Bavarian Challenge will also run throughout the day with local teams competing in events including tug-o-war, barrel races, three-legged races, and bratwurst eating contests. So pace yourself: you don’t want to be watching contestants slam bratwursts while you’re feeling woozy.
