When: Sun., Oct. 24, 12-5 p.m. 2010

Ever wish you could be in Munich this time of year? Lovers of Bavaria, brats, and beer can take part in Oktoberfest festivities this side of the Rhine at Blackbaud Stadium and Gene’s Haufbrau. Normally home to our “fussball” club the Charleston Battery, Blackbaud Stadium will be transformed into a Bavarian-style beer hall with vendors serving a wide selection of German beer and food. Headlining the “musik” and providing the oompah is the Roger Gootman Sauerkraut Band, who will be accompanied by authentic German dancers. There is also a claim — though not supported by any scholarly evidence — that cornhole originated in 14th-century Germany. Regardless of the claim’s validity, it is fitting that this Oktoberfest is having a cornhole tournament. Register two person teams in advance for $20 or day of for $25. —Dustin J. Pitts

Price: $5/advance, $7/door
