There are a bunch of oyster roasts heating up this weekend, and we’ve rounded a few up here. On Sat. Jan. 30 check out the Charitable Society of Charleston’s party at the Bus Shed, which features oysters, beer, wine, and live music from 7-10 p.m.. Proceeds from the $35 tickets benefit the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Carolina Youth Development Center. Give back at the Brickhouse Party Plantation from 1-10 p.m. where the Follywood Oyster Roast raises money for the Warrior Surf Foundation. Guests can enjoy oysters, the Caribbean Creole food truck, and live music from The Piedmont Boys, the Royal Tinfoil, Deadwin, and more. Ben Bounds of Follywood Entertainment says, “Instead of throwing a Christmas or holiday party, we’ve always liked having ours about a month after New Year’s, when everyone’s had a chance to recover from all that. And it’s always a rager.” If you like your oysters with a side of Spanish moss then head out to Boone Hall on Sun. Jan. 31 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for the 33rd Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival where a $25 entrance fee gets you into the biggest oyster roast in the area. Partake in oyster shucking and eating contests and grab some other bites at the food court, where local restaurants will offer food other than oysters.
