Palette & Palate Stroll

When: Fri., July 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. 2009

Thirteen may be making a comeback. Though previously regarded as unlucky, that’s the number of galleries that feature cuisine samples from some of Charleston’s most renowned fine dining restaurants during this year’s Palette and Palate Stroll put on by the Charleston Fine Arts Dealer’s Association. As attendees stroll along the streets of Charleston, they stop into various French Quarter art galleries — including Ann Long Fine Art, Robert Lange Studios, and the Sylvan Gallery — to take a gander at the art and take a nibble on sample tastes from fine restaurants. From Oak Steakhouse to Charleston Grill, much of the old guard of Holy City cuisine is on hand to dish up the goods. As if this wasn’t tempting on its own, the funds raised go toward CFADA’s visual arts scholarship fund which has benefitted Redux, the Gibbes Museum, and CofC’s School of the Arts in the past. Charleston magazine sponsors this year’s event, and the Fulton Lane Inn is offering a special room package for out-of-town attendees. Tickets are limited, so be sure to reserve them soon if you want to enjoy one of 2009’s best combos of art and cuisine. —Moira Phillips
