When: Sat., April 16, 6-10 p.m. 2011
OK, so $55-plus seems like a lot to spend on an afternoon at Colonial Lake. But this isn’t any ordinary Saturday. It’s the Party for the Parks: Amusement on the Avenue, a benefit for the Charleston Parks Conservancy that’s in its second year. Unlike the typical afternoon at the “pond,” the party will feature entertainment from Spaced Invaders, Jammers Skate Crew, The Mizzing Linkz hip hop dancers, and Homespun Hoops, plus live and silent auctions. And there’ll be food from Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar, Caroline’s Market & Catering, La Fourchette, Husk, the new Osteria La Bottiglia, Charleston Cookie Company, Sugar Bakeshop, and Cupcake. 44 North Vodka will serve huckleberry lemonade, and the brand new Holy City Brewery will have their beer. You can pack a picnic and head to your neighborhood green space anytime; the Party for the Parks is a once-a-year thing.
Price: $55/advance, $75/door
