Pick your favorite at the Bacardi Mojito Challenge

It's all in the mixology

The Holy City takes their mixed beverages seriously, including the mojito.  The secret to a good one is how well you can mix the rum, the soda, the sugar, and the mint. What’s the perfect ratio of rum and soda without overpowering the other flavors? It's one of the tougher questions in life.

The Bacardi Mojito Challenge returns to the S.C. Aquarium on Tuesday, giving some of the best bartenders from 16 local establishments a chance to throw down over who can make the best cocktail. Last year, Coast took the gold for the third year in a row with their Pop Rocks-infused adult beverage. We’re curious to see what they’re concocting this time around.

This year’s judging will be a little different, however. Let’s face it, some us get a little too wasted to keep track of which drink belonged to whom by the time we reach cocktail number seven. First, there will be a People’s Choice winner, and then there will be a panel of celebrity judges picking their top three favorites. The panel will include Mark Bryan and Dean Felber from Hootie & the Blowfish.

DJ Travis will spin some tunes. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be available as well. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. Tickets are available online here. There is limited availability, so tickets may not be available at the door. For more information, call (800) 765-7276 ext. 301, 309, or 310.
