When: Sun., June 28, 3-8 p.m. 2009

The Charleston Habitat for Humanity has made a name for itself by helping build affordable homes for Lowcountry families, striving to offer “a hand-up, not a hand-out.” On Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to give money to help them buy a new construction truck — and have fun doing it. Their third annual Pig ‘n’ Pluck at Bowens Island will include all-you-can-eat barbecue from Home Team BBQ and live bluegrass from the Blue Stone Ramblers. Tickets also include three drink tickets, and additional drink tickets are available for $2. It’s a particularly great deal for folks with kids, as anyone under 12 is admitted for free, and babysitting and fun activities will be provided by Sweet Peas Nanny Agency. Get your tickets at the Habitat ReStore at 731 Meeting St., or call (843) 722-7145. Can’t make it out? At least listen to the live broadcast on the Bridge at 105.5. —Erica Jackson
