Pink Martini, an ensemble of a dozen musicians performs a multilingual repertoire at the Gaillard Center. After making its debut with the Oregon Symphony under the direction of Norman Leyden, Pink Martini has played onstage with over 50 orchestras around the world. “The Gaillard Center is a non-profit with a fabulous arts education initiative,” says marketing and public relations manager Stephanie Shipe. “When Pink Martini learned of our education initiative, they were excited to be a part of making the Gaillard Center the Lowcountry’s largest performing arts classroom. Our first summer camp, taught by Charlton Singleton, is focused on jazz music and Pink Martini has invited our students to play on stage with them during one song.” Additionally, this performance will feature several special guests, such as singer Storm Large and host Ari Shapiro.
