When: Sun., June 3, 2-4 p.m.
In co-operation with Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission, James Island Arts is hosting a series of readings by major African American poets at McLeod Plantation Historic Site. These poets embody a range of approaches to poetry and a range of experience from born-local to internationally acclaimed, and all illuminate our understanding of the African-American experience. The poet will give a reading and Q&A under the McLeod Oak, and sign books in a reception to follow in the big house.
