Monster Movies & Music (946 Orleans Rd. in West Ashley next to Citadel Mall) announced some cool in-store gigs this week.

In support of a slick new radio single titled "Midnight Romeo," Long Island based indie band Push Play makes its only Charleston appearance at Monster on Sunday, July 26 with a one-hour live in-store performance.

"This, like every Monster in-store performance, is free of charge," says store manager Galen Hudson. "The band has a pretty large following, considering they're unsigned, and they're doing the unusual move of hitting up record stores and radio stations in-between club dates on their tour." Push Play plays at 5 p.m. No cover.

On Sat. Aug. 1, local rapper Young Righchus will perform live at Monster at 7 p.m. in support of his new 14-song album Chaos Theory, produced by Max "Benjamin" Berry. Both attended the Charleston County School of the Arts together.

"Unlike many other Southern rappers, often criticized for their lack of lyrical ability and use of superficial stereotypes, Young Righchus brings a true sense of honesty and innovative edge that is rarely seen in music today," states a recent press release. "Righchus is not afraid to explore sensitive topics concerning social status and personal experiences from his own life. With catchy hooks, witty lyrics, and a truly engaging live performance, Young Righchus and Max Berry are undoubtedly on their way to the top."

Righchus performs an album release gig at Huger's Place (587 King St.) on Wed. Aug. 29.
