Pop-up Art Show

When: Fri., Aug. 31 2012

Gris Galerie, the new kid in town dedicated to “highlighting the gray area of art in Charleston,” is hosting a graffiti and mural show at The Gadsden (formerly and much more spookily known as The Old Gadsden Funeral Home) with street artists from Florida, N.C., and of course, Charleston. What’s extra cool about this event is that the artists are working together to create a mural on a 100-foot cinderblock wall, which will be the main attraction of the evening. Ishmael, the show’s headliner, is a Charleston-based artist whose work can be seen in Avondale, among other local spots. Other artists whose work will be on display include four Asheville-based artists, Old Faithfull, Ted Harper, Vincent Luca, and Dustin Spagnola; Trek6 of Miami; and Charleston’s own Patch Whisky. Keep your eye out for Bill Murray — rumor has it that he’ll make a pretty big appearance. On the wall, that is.
