Ever have a neighbor who thought he was funny? You know the guy. He keeps on trying to make you laugh, even though his cringe-worthy attempts are met with quizzical stares? Yeah, me too.
That's why it's so refreshing to talk to Tom Shillue, the absolute antidote to your not-funny neighbor. Tom Shillue is the funny neighbor. The effortless comic with a sweater-vest style that harkens back to Dick Van Dyke and Bob Newhart. Shillue is not trying to push your buttons, he just wants to make you laugh, and, like every good American, stop global warming.
Shillue is venturing down to Charleston from the Big Apple, where his decent everyman act (which really is no act) has won over jaded New Yorkers and given him a home at Comedy Central. The five stand-up comedy shows will be hosted by former 96 Wave morning show personality Kenny Zimlinghaus and will also feature another, you guessed it, skinny white comic, College of Charleston alum David Lee Nelson. —Robert Bondurant
