A Dough Re Mi's Bud-sponsored March Madness Battle of the Bands heads into Round Four on Fri. March 24 with sets from Catala, Tripping the Mechanism, and Virgil Kane. THE OLD NEW-WAVE?

Sharing the bill on what's called the "Road Rage Tour 2006," NYC punk-turned-pop band Blondie and Boston-grown pop/new wave act The Cars (billed as "The New Cars") share the stage at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sun. June 18. Singer Debbie Harry, guitarist Chris Stein, keyboardist Jimmie Destri, and drummer Clem Burke — all original Blondie members from their mid-'70s beginnings — headline with support from a newly-assembled version of The Cars, featuring original guitarist Elliot Eason and original keyboardist Greg Hawkes alongside guitarist Todd Rundgren, singer/bassist Kasim Sulton (ex-Utopia), and drummer Prairie Prince (ex-The Tubes, John Fogerty). The Beastie Boys' new concert film, Awesome; I Fuckin' Shot That!
was a hit at last week's South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Fortunately, the documentary will get some local screen time this week at a special one-night-only showing scheduled for 8 p.m., Thurs.
